Job Summary:

The Meat Cutter/Meat Cutter Apprentice reports to the Meat Department Manager and is responsible for finely and precisely cutting our high-quality meats. The Meat Cutter/Meat Cutter Apprentice provides excellent customer service and caters to customers’ requests and preferences, ensuring customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Prepare various meats and meat products, keeping the Meat case fresh and full
Cut, weigh, wrap, and price product
Make and use a cut list, control waste, and rotate product
Take customer orders and/or special requests; fulfill requests, meeting WCM standards
Assist with general Meat Department tasks, including but not limited to: assisting customers at the Meat counter, preparing burgers and marinades, and stocking product
Safely and effectively operate equipment such as slicers, saws, grinders, and knives
Maintain advanced Meat product knowledge
Maintain general sanitation practices, food safety practices, and food storage practices within store and health department standards

Schedule:

The schedule for this position will require shifts from 7am-3pm, 8am-4pm, or 9am-5pm.

Requirements

Required Skills & Abilities:

Ability to communicate clearly
Comfortable working with the public and greeting, speaking with, and assisting customers
Attention to detail, ensuring duties are completed correctly and on time
Must have weekend and holiday availability

Education and Experience:

Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma/GED
Show ability to effectively learn all aspects of cutting and portioning (Required to be a Meat Cutter Apprentice)
1+ years meat cutting experience & portioning (Required to be a Meat Cutter)

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, twisting, lifting, bending, reaching, and operating meat cutting equipment
Occasional instances of pushing and pulling carts
Must be able to frequently lift 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 90 pounds
