Business Team Lead
Provide direction and support to the Business Team Unit Superintendents, Shift Supervisors and Compliance Coordinator in the safe, reliable and environmentally sound operation of the refinery. In addition, the Business Team Lead ensures the refinery areas are capable of meeting the long-term oil flow plan and outlook. The Business Team Lead reports to the Operations Manager and works with the Refinery Leadership Team (RLT) to drive the optimized operation of the refinery.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE):
- Monitor employee activities. Correct unsafe behavior IMMEDIATELY.
- Participate in all required safety audits and support the Unit Superintendents in resolving Unit safety, reliability or environmental issues
- Participate in HazOp approval and work with the Unit Superintendents to coordinate the completion of Unit action items
- Steward the completion of non-TOP incident investigations and completion of assigned action items to resolve identified deficiencies
- Support the Refinery HSE Leadership Teams
- Review and approve TOP Investigations and related action items
General:
- Develop the annual Operations and Business Team budget. Review the refinery operating budget and expenses for respective units of the refinery
- Complete monthly Business Team Report on area performance
- Champion capital projects / plans for refinery improvements
- Equipment Preparation Plans (EPP)
Reliability:
- Lead Business Team to drive and set priorities for the team (across departments) and address area issues
- Lead Business Team to set priorities and assign resources.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts of complex and cross plant maintenance and logistical issues. Formulate plans that resolve roadblocks to plant and equipment reliability.
- Coordinate with Business Team and Refinery Leadership to identify refinery maintenance events and limit oil flow impacts.
- Respond to refinery related emergencies and be available after hours during critical business situations.
- Participate in the monthly review of the major maintenance look ahead for the refinery
- Coordinate with the Operations Manager and the RLT members to drive the completion of refinery inspection, reliability, and maintenance project programs.
Supervisory & Leadership:
- Provide direct supervision for Unit Superintendents, Shift Supervisors and Compliance Coordinators.
- Mentor and develop Business Team members
- Participate on Union / Management teams as assigned.
- Review and enforce hourly expectations utilizing appropriate personnel and procedures
- Work with Operations Manager to coordinate and respond to grievances
Organizational:
- Support Refinery turnaround planning and execution as directed.
- Lead and support special projects and review committees within the refinery (e.g., process chemical / cooling water committee, Veolia WWTU, Linde)
- Participate on Refinery Leadership teams
- Support assigned PBF Best Practices teams
Job Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
- 10+ years in Refining or Petrochemicals.
- Line-management experience in Operations preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with industry process safety and environment regulations, work practices, and compliance strategies as well as knowledge of basic refinery processes, reliability principles, refining economics and basic budgeting and scheduling.
