Sr. Engineer - Analyzer
Primary responsibilities will involve maintenance engineering support and reliability improvements for refinery analyzers. Engineer acts as an equipment specialist to lead and coordinate refinery wide effort of identifying and implementing reliability improvements to obtain optimum asset performance.
- Responsible for the improvement of the analyzer equipment class and is recognized as an analyzer engineer with a familiarity of the application and interpretation of the company and industry standards of that class of equipment.
- Proactively seek reliability improvements directed at increasing plant equipment uptime.
- Specify and order parts, materials, equipment and help facilitate outside repairs.
- Work in a team environment with other engineering disciplines, operations and mechanical personnel.
- Track, evaluate and report refinery key performances indicators for the analyzer class and evaluate any improvement opportunities.
- Write instructions and procedures for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining analyzers under the guidance of a more experienced analyzer engineer.
- Work closely with Instrument Techs by providing assistance for troubleshooting and repairs to analyzers.
- Willing to be available outside of normal working hours to direct troubleshooting and repairs.
- Provide equipment failure analysis reports and support as needed for equipment failures.
- Follow refinery safety procedures and assist with developing safe work practices for analyzers.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- BS in Electrical or Chemical engineering.
- Must have a minimum of 4 years experience in the oil and gas or chemical industries supporting instrumentation in a plant environment.
- Must possess strategic and creative thinking abilities.
- Must possess interactive skills necessary for teamwork building. This position acts as the focal point for Analyzer reliability and works closely with the process, mechanical & technical groups for solution building.
- Must possess good judgment.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and possess computer skills needed for communications and analysis.
- Have knowledge of analyzers: CEMS, Gas Chromatography, Spectroscopy and sample system design.
- Have knowledge of: PLC/HMI systems, DCS systems, data acquisition systems.
- Have knowledge of industry standards: NEC, NFPA, API and ISA.
- Must have an ability to handle multiple priorities, manage short deadlines and emergency situations.
