The Sr. Accountant will ensure accurate, timely cost tracking, forecasts, and analysis activities. This position is responsible for preparing journal entries, maintains ledgers, prepares, and analyzes financial information, assists in monthly close and performs reconciliations. This position will also serve as a resource for other employees regarding SAP matters.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Adhere to Company Policies and Procedures, GAAP, and Sox Regulations to assure integrity and accuracy in recording, tracking, insure consistency and compatibility with PBF corporate guidelines.
  • Develop, recommend and implement systems that improve cost and internal controls; project reporting and forecasting; contractor management and overall refinery performance tracking.
  • Work with management and Plant Controller to develop annual operating expense budgets for the refinery that are done in accordance with corporate timelines and instructions.
  • Develop, recommend and implement reporting systems which support and integrate with the overall goals and objectives of the refinery.
  • Serve as a resource for other employees regarding SAP matters.
  • Provide financial assistance to the business units.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate accounting for Corporate Accounting activities.
  • Ensure all journal entries are made and assist in ledger maintenance. Monitor cost center expenses and prepare correcting journal entries when necessary.
  • Prepare and analyze financial reports, assist in monthly close and perform balance sheet reconciliations, expense analysis, and supporting schedules.
  • Work with internal/external auditors to provide requested documentation.
  • Demonstrate effective and efficient usage of SAP FI/CO Modules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting required, CPA & MBA preferred.
  • 7+ years’ experience working in a manufacturing environment, oil or energy preferred.
  • Working knowledge of accounting theory and principles (GAAP).
  • 3+ years’ SAP experience is required.
  • Strong analytical skills with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel.
