SUMMARY Working under the direction of the Director of Protective Services and as an integral member of the Protective Services team, this position works to ensure the safety and security of the Museum collection, staff and visitors. The role includes workplace safety, fire safety systems, video management systems, access controls and the prevention of situations that could jeopardize the safety and operation of the Museum. Additionally, the Control Room Operator is responsible for monitoring and dispatching security personnel to stations and various situations throughout the campus. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT Position requires ability to move quickly through buildings and across campus in response to protective services concerns; must be able to continuously use radio to send and receive transmissions. Requires vision adequate to make accurate visual assessment of potential security problems; occasionally lifts and moves up to 25 lbs; use of computer and related software applications; Use of patrol vehicles, and carts; Ability to stay alert and focused for long durations; able to walk and stand for long periods; Able to work day, night, holidays, during inclement weather; Ability to work extended hours.
