SUMMARY
The Toledo Museum of Art (TMA) seeks a creative, detail-oriented Videographer to produce compelling video content that brings the Museum’s collections, programs, and stories to life across digital platforms. This role is responsible for the end-to-end production of video—from concept through filming and post-production—supporting audience engagement, brand storytelling, and institutional priorities.
Working collaboratively with the Marketing & Communications team and partners across the Museum, the Videographer develops high-quality, audience-centered video content tailored for platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and internal channels. This position plays a key role in shaping how TMA connects with audiences through dynamic visual storytelling that is accessible, engaging, and aligned with the Museum’s mission and values.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Video Production & Filming

  • Shoot and edit a high volume of short-form and long-form video content tailored for YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and other digital platforms.
  • Film short-form and mid-length videos (3–10 minutes) for marketing, educational content, and internal use.
  • Capture b-roll footage at Museum programs, exhibitions, and events for use across campaigns and paid media.
  • Set up and operate lighting equipment for interviews, object-focused storytelling, and demonstrations.
  • Manage audio capture using lavalier microphones, shotgun microphones, and other recording tools.
  • Utilize tripods, stabilizers, and handheld equipment to ensure professional-quality footage.
  • Scout and prepare filming locations, coordinating logistics for both in-gallery and on-location shoots.
Post-Production & Content Delivery
  • Edit video footage including color correction, audio mixing, and final export for multiple platforms.
  • Create light motion graphics and animated elements (e.g., title cards, lower thirds, transitions, simple infographics).
  • Add subtitles and captions to ensure accessibility and inclusive content delivery.
  • Adapt content into multiple formats and aspect ratios (e.g., 16:9, 9:16, 1:1) based on platform requirements.
  • Organize and manage digital media assets, including raw footage, project files, and finished content within TMA’s storage systems.
Content Strategy & Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to align video content with campaign goals, brand voice, and editorial calendars.
  • Contribute to content planning, including shot lists, storyboarding, and pre-production coordination.
  • Stay current on video trends, platform algorithms, and best practices—particularly for YouTube and TikTok—to inform content creation.
  • Partner with internal departments (Curatorial, Education, Development, Visitor Services) to support storytelling across the Museum.
Equipment & Operations
  • Maintain and manage video production equipment, including cameras, lighting kits, and audio gear.
  • Monitor equipment condition, recommend upgrades, and coordinate rentals as needed.
  • Ensure efficient workflows for production, editing, and file management.
Other Responsibilities
  • May support coordination with freelance videographers, photographers, or production vendors as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in film production, media production, communications or related field.
  • 3-5 years of professional work experience in video production, videography, and multi-media content creation.
  • Demonstrated experience producing content for digital and social media platforms (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram).
  • Proficiency in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro) and motion graphics tools (e.g., After Effects, Canva).
  • Experience with camera operation, lighting, and audio recording techniques.
  • Portfolio demonstrates storytelling, technical skill, and platform-specific content creation.
  • Strong understanding of digital content trends and audience engagement strategies.
  • Appreciation for the arts and commitment to equity and inclusion in storytelling.

  • Strong visual storytelling skills with an eye for composition, pacing, and narrative.
  • Technical proficiency in video production equipment, editing workflows, and file management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, including captioning and inclusive design practices.
  • Adaptability in fast-paced production environments with quick turnaround needs.
  • Awareness of evolving social media trends and platform-specific content strategies.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across departments and disciplines.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage assets and workflows effectively.
  • Experience using project management tools (e.g., Wrike) a plus
  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven approach to content creation and optimization.
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to write, edit, and adapt messaging across channels and audiences.
  • Skilled in balancing multiple projects and deadlines in a collaborative environment.
  • Fluent in digital engagement trends, SEO, and user experience principles.
  • Comfortable leading cross-functional planning and facilitating team collaboration.
  • Knowledge of or passion for the arts, museums, and community engagement a plus.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and take on responsibility and decision-making in order to achieve established goals.
  • Acts as a team player with strong communication skills. Enjoys connection and collaboration across departments and disciplines.
  • Organized and can manage multiple simultaneous projects using a project management system (such as Wrike).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Standard open office work environment shared with co-workers, with related phone, computer, and production equipment noise. Position requires the ability to operate cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and standard office technology; may occasionally lift up to 25 pounds. Filming across campus and at events may involve standing for extended periods and occasional exposure to varying weather conditions. Evening and weekend work may be required for Museum programs and events.
