AREAS OF INTEREST: Nonprofit fundraising, donor relations, and the behind-the-scenes nonprofit operations that make philanthropy successful. SUMMARY: This on-site, 8-week internship offers a 2026 undergraduate junior or senior level student a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the heart of an art museum’s Development department. The Development Operations Intern will play a meaningful role in advancing the museum’s mission by supporting fundraising efforts that help sustain exhibitions, educational programs, and community engagement initiatives. Working closely with Development staff, the intern will assist with donor stewardship and essential operational tasks that ensure smooth and effective development processes. The primary focus of this role will be launching new stewardship touchpoints that celebrate milestone giving and strengthen donor connections. In addition, the intern will contribute to the daily work of donor data management, reporting, and gift processing, gaining firsthand experience with the behind-the-scenes systems that make meaningful philanthropy possible. Throughout the internship, the student will deepen their understanding of donor stewardship and development operations, learn best practices for data management and donor engagement, and contribute directly to initiatives that enhance donor satisfaction and retention, ultimately supporting the Museum’s ability to inspire and serve its community. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Director of Development Operations and collaborates closely with the Development team members. Interacts with Museum donors and TMA Ambassadors. Interns may also have the opportunity to collaborate with Summer 2026 interns from other departments. ELIGIBILITY: Actively enrolled undergraduate college students in the year 2026. A minimum of 2 years of an undergraduate program completed prior to the start of the internship. This program is intended for students or early-career individuals who are not currently employed in a regular staff role. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Standard open concept office work environment shared with co-workers, with related phone, computer and printer noise; position requires the ability to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a copy machine, printer, and phone system; the person in this position may be required to communicate with other staff, the public, donors, or outside scholars and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
