Job Description:

The primary responsibility of the Research Associate is to set up test rigs to conduct experiments intended to demonstrate the efficacy of a steady state reaction device. The position requires familiarity with instrumentation and assembly of test rigs using different gases. The position also requires data recording, reduction, and analysis. This position requires working closely with the Principal Investigator to formulate changes to the test rig and redesign of the primary reactor to achieve the desired results. This position is funded by an awarded contract to The University of Toledo by the Office of Naval Research, “Effusion Cooling for Hypersonic Ground Testing.”

Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Applicant must be a US citizen.
Proficient in setting up laboratory test rigs and working with tools.
Familiar with defining and installing instrumentation.
Proficient in data acquisition systems and installation/integration into test rigs.

Education/Experience/Licensing:
M.S. required; M.S. preferred in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or related field.
Background and experience in laboratory experimental work.
Experience with setting up instrumentation and data acquisition.
Knowledge and proficiency with data acquisition software.

Communication and Other skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
Proficiency in computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office required.
Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
Must have the ability to meet the requirements of and complete/maintain mandatory training per the University mandatory training policy pursuant to the deadlines set forth therein.

Preferred Qualifications:

M.S. preferred in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
