Job Description:

Applicant works with minimal supervision from the department administrator and chair to plan, direct and manage daily department operations and activities with minimal supervision from the department administrator and department chair. Complete duties and responsibilities to provide high-quality, cost-effective management of department administrative and budgetary functions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, public relations or other related field or 10 years office environment experience may be accepted in lieu of degree requirement.
Experience in accounting/budgeting, required.
Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, required.
Ability to organize, prioritize and efficiently coordinate various responsibilities and job duties, required
Ability to establish constructive interpersonal relationships and work with people from various ethnicities, required.
Ability to work independently, be self-motivated and be proactive to avoid negative consequences, required.
Ability to respond to a rapidly changing business environment, required.
Ability to multitask and work with faculty members, staff and students on diverse projects, required.
Ability to maintain high degree of confidentiality, required.
Excellent written, verbal and culturally appropriate communication skills, required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with NIH grant applications, policies and compliance procedures, preferred.
Knowledge of Publisher, Photoshop, Illustrator, Blackboard and API, preferred.
Appreciation for scientific research and an understanding of basic sciences, helpful.
