Job Description:

The Purchasing Agent I position is responsible for coordinating and procuring supplies and services. Responsible for the timely placement of orders, expediting, resourcing of product for backordered or discontinued items and resolution of invoicing and receiving discrepancies. Possesses needed negotiation skills for obtaining best cost objectives for the institution. Develops and maintains customer relationships and communicates order status and product information in a timely fashion. Works cross functionally with other associates to identify process improvement opportunities. Ensures departmental policies and procedures are followed, which are consistent with UT strategic goals and objectives.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience:
 Bachelor’s Degree in Business or related field preferred
 24 mos. experience in purchasing/procurement required
 Industry knowledge preferred
 Strong computer skills, proficient with internet/website ordering and working knowledge of Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
 ERP System knowledge (Banner, Lawson) preferred

 Keeps up to date with annual safety test prior to date of expiration, HIPAA training, harassment training, ethics/standards form, and maintains immunizations as required for job.
