Job Description:

The University of Toledo invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication to start August 19, 2024. Successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Communication.

The position is a one-year Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication with possible reappointment at the end of the academic year. Candidate should be able to teach journalism and production classes as well as intro courses. Potential courses include: Communication Principles and Practices, Media Writing, Photo Journalism, Multimedia Newswriting, Integrated Media and Single Camera Production. An ability to help the department develop curriculum that is geared toward the future is preferred. The expectation is that the candidate will teach four classes per term.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters Degree in Communication or a related field
• Media production/journalism skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous teaching experience
• Relevant professional experience in journalism and/or media production
• Experience working with first generation and underrepresented minority college students
• Curriculum development experience
