The Toledo Clinic's Rheumatology Department, Arthritis Associates, is seeking a full-time Front Desk Medical Receptionist. This position will work 3 full days (Mon/Tues/Thurs, 8:00-4:30) and 2 half days (Wed, 8:00-12:30 & Fri, 7:30-12:00).

General Summary

Greets and directs patients & visitors, updates patient demographic insurance information, scans appropriate documents to the EMR, collects copays and outstanding balances and posts patient payments.

Perform various clerical duties to support the operation of the office.

Works under the supervision of the Practice Manager

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
  • Greets patients as they approach the desk. Checks in patients and notifies appropriate staff of arrival/directs patients accordingly.
  • Registers new and existing patients consisting of insurance information, demographic information, physician information, scanning appropriate documents to the EMR, and verifying insurance electronically, etc.
  • Requests and verifies patients’ insurance information and enters changes in the computer system.
  • Collecting co-pays and patient balances and posting to the patient account.
  • Answering general patient questions.
  • Taking messages accurately and relaying to appropriate personnel.
  • Answering phones - courteously and professionally.
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Verifying referrals and/or pre-certifications.

Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To

  • Preparing and/or submitting charge tickets.
  • Sorting, filing and scanning patient charts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Required:

  • Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.
  • Completes all tasks within established time frame.
  • Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
  • Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
  • General knowledge and familiarity with computers.

Education:

  • HS diploma or GED.

Preferred:

  • Previous receptionist or clerical experience in a medical office, and excellent interpersonal skills.
