Toledo Clinic's Nephrology Department is seeking a Medical Assistant to work on a contingent basis and provide both clinical and administrative duties in a fast paced office. The office hours are Monday-Thursday (8:00-4:30) and Friday (8:00-2:00). Qualified candidates will have an active MA credential (RMA/CMA/CCMA) or the ability to obtain such credential within 60 days of employment.
General Summary
Assist providers with patient treatment, prepares patient for providers, and performs various clerical duties.
Works under the supervision of the Office Manager.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
- Assist providers with patient care (i.e.: assisting with minor procedures/surgeries such as removing sutures, staples, moles, etc.).
- Various clerical duties (i.e.: answering phones, scheduling appointments, handling patient charts, etc.).
- Escorting patients to exam room.
- Preparing exam rooms.
- Preparing patient for providers (i.e.: histories, blood pressure, vitals, etc.).
- Sterilizing and preparing instruments.
- At the request of the physician, calling in prescription refills.
- Order and maintain exam room supplies and instruments.
- Follow up with lab work and/or x-rays.
- Administering injections.

Required:

- Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills required.
- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.
- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.
- Credentialed as a Medical Assistant (i.e.: CMA or RMA).
- Medicare Exclusion List.
Education:
- Medical Assisting degree or diploma from an accredited school.
Preferred:
- Clinical medical assisting experience.
