Supervisory Responsibilities

Pharmacy Technicians and Orthopedic Technician.

General Summary

Dispense prescription medications as prescribed by licensed health care providers, provides patient counseling on medication use, and advises healthcare professionals on drug selection, dosage, and interactions. May also administer immunizations.

Works under the supervision of the Director of Pharmacy.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Consistently arrives at work on time and adheres to regular work schedule.
  • Prepare and dispenses drugs, including controlled substances, as prescribed by licensed health care provider, ensuring accuracy and proper labeling.
  • Educates patient about their prescriptions.
  • Advises patients of alternatives (generics) for cost effectiveness.
  • Verifies insurance information.
  • Balances cash drawer.
  • Maintains quality control and ensures adherence to all regulation requirements, standards, and substances, medication safety and patient care.
  • Maintains appropriate records to ensure safe and accurate inventory.
  • Ensures accurate receipt of product into the pharmacy computer systems.
  • Oversees the security of the pharmacy and its inventory.

Other Essential Duties May Include but Are Not Limited To

  • Assist customers at the cash register.
  • Stock over the counter medications or goods.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

Required:

  • Consistently arrives at work in appropriate/professional attire.
  • Completes all tasks within established time frame.
  • Adheres to all clinic policies and procedures.
  • Active Ohio Pharmacist License in good standing with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
  • Maintains awareness of the department’s budget at all times and works within the budgetary figures.
  • Interprets and reviews financials and offers explanation when expenses or liabilities are excessive.
  • Establishes departmental goals and completes goals within established time frame.
  • Effectively recruits, retains, disciplines and trains staff.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.
  • PharmD with experience considered.

Preferred:

  • Five years previous retail pharmacy experience preferred.
