Supervision Exercised:

Pharmacy Technicians, Nurse IV mixing specialists

General Summary:

Central review of oncology/hematology drug regimens

Patient education, medication management, and MTM services

Dispense oral and IV medication prescribed by licensed health care providers

Works under the supervision of the Executive Director, Regional Oncology Services Managing Partner, Oncology Services

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Example of Essential Duties:

  1. Review oncology/hematology treatment plans for dosing, interactions, and appropriateness based on patient factors
  2. Consult with prescribers to provide suggestions for treatment plan adjustments
  3. Dispensing of IV and oral therapies
  4. Work with the Oncology department to develop and advise on drug therapy protocol through participation in P&T Committee activities
  5. Patient education through medication management services
  6. Maintain quality control and adherence to all regulation requirements, licensing and dispensing laws
  7. Oversee the security of the pharmacy and its inventory
  8. Oversight of 340B pharmacy operations
  9. Development and maintenance of treatment regimen templates located in the EMR
  10. Development and maintenance of oral pharmacy and infusion policies and procedures
  11. Oral/self-administered medication prior authorizations and appeals
  12. Consultation with physicians, APPs, nurses, and other staff for medication inquiries

Other Essential Duties May Include (but are not limited to):

  1. Assist customers at the cash register
  2. Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Required:

  • Maintain Ohio pharmacist license.
  • Adheres to, and ensures department’s compliance with, the clinic’s policies and procedures. - Maintains awareness of the department’s budget at all times and works within the budgetary figures.
  • Interprets and reviews financials and offers explanation when expenses or liabilities are excessive.
  • Establishes departmental goals and completes goals within established time frame.
  • Effectively recruits, retains, disciplines and trains staff.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy.

Preferred:

Previous oncology pharmacy experience preferred.

Doctor of Pharmacy degree.
