Toledo Clinic's Adult Neurology Department is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to provide both clinical and administrative support in a busy office. Qualified candidates will have an MA credential (RMA/CMA/CCMA) or able to obtain such credential within 60 days of employment. This position will work M-F, 8-5.

Toledo Clinic is offering a $2,000 Sign-On Bonus to qualified Medical Assistants and Certified Patient Care Techs. Sign-On Bonuses are payable within 30 days of hire to employees that have active and verified credentials (ex: RMA/CMA/CCMA/CPCT/A). For candidates that have not yet obtained or need to renew their credential, the Sign-On Bonus is payable once the credential is obtained and verified. After one year of service, qualified Medical Assistants/Certified Patient Care Techs will be eligible for an additional $2,000 Retention Bonus.

General Summary:

Perform various clerical duties to support the operation of the office and as needed performs clinical duties

Works under the supervision of the Office Manager

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Example of Essential Duties:

  1. Answering phones - courteously and professionally.
  2. Scheduling appointments, lab tests, surgeries, etc.
  3. Accurately enter patient information in to the electronic medical record.
  4. Verifying referrals and/or pre-certifications.
  5. Updating insurance information.
  6. Escorting patients to exam rooms.
  7. Preparing and maintaining exam rooms.

Other Essential Duties May Include (but are not limited to):

  1. Assisting physician with minor procedures.
  2. Preparing patients for physicians (vitals, histories, etc.).
  3. Answering patient questions at the request of the physician.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

Required:

- Excellent communication and organizational skills required.

- Consistently arrives at work, in professional attire, on time and completes all tasks within established time frame.

- Registration or Certification as a Medical Assistant

- Seeks appropriate tasks when primary tasks are completed and assists co-workers as needed.

- Demonstrates adaptability to expanded roles.

- Medical Assisting Credential (ie: RMA, CMA, CCMA)

Education:

- Medical Assisting degree or diploma required.

Preferred:

- Previous clerical experience in a medical office.
