Responsible for overseeing all Ohio locations and partners at capabilities to serve our markets in Ohio (Columbus, Cincinnati, North Canton, Maumee, Shaker Heights, Middleburg Heights). Two alignments for structure – locations/teams internal, and peers to platform companies. Recommend having a point of contact (POC) for each team location, as well as a POC for each market. Team Leaders will provide tracking and carry out initiatives form the Service lead.
Goals

- Ensure proper training for staff to ensure Baseline Knowledge Needed
- Ensure coaching of Team members
- Enable growth to occur with smooth onboarding, group additions
- Create smooth communication among project teams within the practice
Key Tasks
- Organize practice to function best as service.
- Communicate with Team Leaders from primary offices on their workload regularly
- Monitor and level workload. Assist with over-under projections
- Communicate with SME’s from different markets on standards and expectations
- Ensure training opportunities are utilized to maintain and grow capabilities
- Assist with CAPEX and Strategic investments for the Service
- Software or technology needs are addressed.
- Ensure QA/QC is being followed as the Practice and Markets Require
- Monitor overall project health
- Support PM efforts within the Practice with inter-service requests
- Monthly Reporting with BUL, OP
- Monitor metrics: Utilization, Kick Off, QC Audits
SLL is responsible for the management and performance of their respective department within their Business Unit by driving internal collaboration, hiring/mentoring/retaining all-star leaders, and owning organic growth – all in partnership with other departments, the Business Unit, and the Platform Firm.
The SLL is responsible for operational execution and KPIs of their department. The Department Manager drives growth, ensures technical excellence, and develops talent within their department while also working collaboratively within their Business Unit and Platform Firm to help grow backlog, revenue, EBITDA, and other key metrics. Additionally, they are responsible for creating and sustaining Trilon’s People First culture and for hiring, organizational health, employee development, and other key talent-related metrics. The SLL plays a key role in helping the Business Unit and Platform Firm scale through sound management of people, projects, and processes.
Leadership: understand and lead in alignment with the vision of the Business Unit and Platform Firm.
- Along with the Business Unit Leader, assist with setting direction of the department and Business Unit through development, execution, and leadership of a 3-year One-Page Plan.
- Enlist and align the department with strategic, operational, people, and financial targets of the Business Unit.
- Actively lead and grow the department while collaborating with and supporting other Business Unit departments, Business Units, the Platform Firm, and the Platform
- Ensures projects are delivered on time, on budget, and to quality standards
- Optimizes utilization and billability across technical teams
- Drive integration and actionable growth plans for Add-On M&A opportunities that reside within their Business Unit
- Leverages communication skills and presence to align, motivate, and inform talent throughout the Department.
Management: ensure the department exceeds or meets performance targets.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of relevant department metrics and KPIs with an emphasis on helping the Business Unit achieving Net Service Revenue and EBITDA growth targets.
- Drive a culture of strong fiscal and business acumen that empowers the team to seek continuous improvement in DLM/UTE, IDL, DSO, Backlog, and Net Hiring.
- Support Business Unit Leader in the annual budgeting process.
- Directly supervise and evaluate staff and the performance of projects within their department.
- Own key non-financial performance areas such as safety, client engagement, staff development and retention, and cross-department and business unit collaboration.
Business Development:
Maintain clear alignment with the strategic direction of the Business Unit and President in pursuit of strategic clients, wallet share expansion, application of technology, and cross-selling through aligning operational efforts to generate repeat business with quality clients and expand opportunity within the projects the department participates.
Maintain the doer-seller mentality and ensure that all communication and deliverables positively represent the company.
Help drive long-term organic growth in backlog, revenue, and earnings through strong proposal support, highly skilled staff, and robust processes.
Bring strong community advocacy for sustainable infrastructure development and ensure the team is active in client engagement and industry participation.
Company and Culture Champion:
Maintain high engagement and eNPS (Employee Net Promoter Score) scores within their department.
Build followership and create a positive culture in their department by listening to employees and supporting an environment of belonging and equity.
Actively engaged with their management team and the Business Unit Leader to establish and achieve key people metrics such as headcount growth, eNPS/employee engagement, development & acceleration of careers, and best-in-class employee retention.
Foster a culture of collaboration and consistently promote cross-functional work in partnership with other departments and business units and the Trilon family of firms.
