What are the core responsibilities for the role?

  • Perform daily field inspections of construction projects to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and applicable codes and regulations
  • Monitor contractor activities for quality, safety, and adherence to project schedules
  • Document and report inspection findings, including detailed daily reports, photos, and field notes
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to resolve issues and maintain project progress
  • Verify materials, workmanship, and construction methods meet required standards
  • Identify and communicate deficiencies or non-compliant work and track corrective actions
  • Attend project meetings and provide updates on inspection activities and project status
  • Ensure proper implementation of traffic control, environmental controls, and safety procedures
  • Maintain accurate records of quantities, progress, and completed work for payment verification

Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or related field preferred
  • Relevant inspection certifications (e.g., ATSSA TC Supervisor, WPCM, ACI Grade I (preferred)) or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe
  • Previous experience in construction inspection, civil engineering, or related field preferred
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, materials, and safety standards
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, and technical documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and field reporting software · Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed
This position requires the operation of a company vehicle. All candidates must hold a valid driver’s license and will be subject to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check. Employment is contingent upon meeting Horrocks' Fleet & Safety minimum requirements. Candidates will be asked to provide consent for the MVR check as part of the hiring process.
