Key Responsibilities


Position Overview
The Civil Engineering Project Manager will lead the planning, design, and management of site development projects for private-sector clients. This role involves overseeing project lifecycle activities, managing client relationships, coordinating internal and external teams, and ensuring the successful execution of site development projects such as commercial, industrial, institutional, and mixed-use developments.

Project Management & Delivery
  • Lead and manage civil site development projects from concept through construction.
  • Prepare and oversee design of site layout, grading, utilities, stormwater management, and roadway access.
  • Develop project scopes, schedules, budgets, and resource plans.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance, coordination, and quality oversight for design teams.
Client & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on assigned projects.
  • Develop long-term client relationships and support new project opportunities.
  • Present project deliverables to clients, regulatory agencies, and municipal authorities.
  • Participate in proposal preparation, project interviews, and business development initiatives.
Technical & Regulatory
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, plans, specifications, and reports.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Coordinate permitting efforts with agencies such as municipalities, county engineers, and the Ohio EPA.
  • Oversee construction-phase support including RFIs, submittal reviews, and site visits.
Team Leadership
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, designers, and technicians.
  • Coordinate with multi-disciplinary MSG teams including environmental, geotechnical, transportation, and construction services.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative project team environment


Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, preferably in Ohio, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in civil site development design and project management.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and common civil engineering design tools.
  • Strong understanding of site grading, utility design, hydrology/hydraulics, and stormwater management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects, budgets, and client relationships.
Preferred
  • Experience with commercial, industrial, institutional, or mixed-use site development projects.
  • Knowledge of Columbus-area agencies, permitting processes, and development codes.
  • Experience supervising and mentoring engineering staff.
  • Strong communication, organization, and presentation skills.
