CME Associates is currently recruiting an Associate Engineer to join our Water/Wastewater Engineering Department in East Brunswick, New Jersey. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated, early-career engineer to gain hands-on experience supporting municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects while working alongside a collaborative and experienced team.

Responsibilities


Engineering Design & Drafting
  • Assist in the planning, design, and drafting of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including water mains, sanitary sewers, pump stations, and related appurtenances.
  • Prepare plans, profiles, details, and calculations using AutoCAD Civil 3D and related design software.
Permitting & Regulatory Support
  • Support the preparation and submission of permit applications and technical documents to local, state, and federal agencies (e.g., NJDEP).
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Project Collaboration
  • Work closely with project managers, senior engineers, surveyors, and other disciplines to support project delivery from concept through construction.
  • Participate in coordination meetings and assist with responding to agency and client comments.
Technical Documentation
  • Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda, feasibility studies, and design calculations to support project planning and execution.

Qualifications

Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
  • 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience; internship or co-op experience in water, wastewater, or municipal engineering is a plus.
Technical Skills
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D; familiarity with hydraulic or stormwater modeling software is a plus.
Licensure
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure is not required but encouraged for future growth.
