Responsible for pre/post-award grant accounting, including internal and external reporting and maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and private grant agreements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Support faculty, staff, and administrators by developing, reviewing, and editing grant budgets and budget narratives
Assist Grants Specialist with internal review and approval process for grant proposals
Coordinate with the Financial Affairs Office to establish General Ledger (GL) account codes associated with grants and communicate these GL accounting codes with project managers
Ensure funding award checks and direct deposits are delivered to the Financial Affairs Office
Participate in grant kick-off meetings and quarterly check-in meetings with project managers and stakeholders to ensure compliance with grant agreement financial matters
Provide support to project managers for the duration of the grant cycle on matters associated with the grant budgets
Analyze variances between actual and budgeted expenses and notify the project manager and assist in resolving the differences
Assist Vice President and Grants Specialist with monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc Grants & Sponsored Programs reports that include budget and financial data
Support project managers by developing, reviewing, and editing budgets to be included in their grant reports
Maintain accurate and up-to-date digital records of all current and past grant budgets, including reporting procedures and deadlines
Ensure compliance with Uniform Guidance and other regulations in accordance with the grant agreement
Prepare audit worksheets, schedules, reports, and supporting documentation to be used during grant audits by internal, federal, state, or other related agencies and external auditors
Conduct specialized financial analysis as requested by the Vice President and Grants Specialist
Participate in regular meetings with the Financial Affairs team, and with project managers or project teams
Perform other related duties as assigned
Education and/or Work Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field is required
Three to five years of related work experience is desired
Other Skills and Abilities:
Understanding of general accounting principles
Proficiency with Microsoft products (Excel, Word, etc.) and general computer skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment
Problem solving and resourcefulness with challenges that may arise in the workplace, taking the initiative, and seeking guidance when needed
Familiarity with federal, state, and private grant funding agency regulations and guidelines
Willingness to learn and grow, and work in a team environment
