Director of Finance

Location: In Person

Are you an experienced finance professional with strong leadership, accounting, and financial management skills? We are seeking a highly motivated Director of Finance to provide strategic leadership and oversee all financial operations while managing the Finance and Office departments.

In this role, you will be responsible for financial planning, reporting, budgeting, accounting, cash management, compliance, and providing financial guidance to senior management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing and implementing financial goals and priorities.
  • Oversee financial management, budgeting, accounting, purchasing, and payroll functions.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable State and Federal laws, policies, procedures, and financial requirements.
  • Monitor compliance with financial provisions of management contracts.
  • Review contracts prior to billing and settlement preparation.
  • Review and oversee checks, deposits, daily cash receipts, and disbursements.
  • Monitor and project daily cash flow and manage excess cash when applicable.
  • Review purchasing activities, including capital assets, office supplies, and facility supplies.
  • Prepare and oversee financial reporting, including:
  • Monthly financial statements
  • Rolling forecasts
  • Annual budgets
  • Year-end closeout reporting
  • Maintain accurate accounting records, general and subsidiary ledgers, accounts receivable, operating expenses, depreciation, and insurance records.
  • Analyze financial performance and departmental costs and recommend improvements to support business goals.
  • Prepare projections for future costs and revenues.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits and assist with implementing recommendations.
  • Oversee accounting, payroll, timekeeping, inventory, property, and related financial controls and procedures.
  • Review financial statements and performance with management.
  • Participate in union labor contract administration when requested.
  • Provide overall leadership and direction for the Finance and Office departments.

Leadership Responsibilities

The Director of Finance will provide overall direction, coordination, and supervision for assigned departments, including:

  • Interviewing, hiring, and training employees
  • Assigning and directing work
  • Managing employee performance
  • Coaching and developing team members
  • Addressing employee concerns and workplace issues
  • Administering corrective action in partnership with Human Resources

Qualifications

Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of general and cost accounting
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to handle highly confidential information professionally
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Professional attitude and appearance

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university required
  • 5–7 years of experience in public accounting and/or financial management
  • Previous supervisory or department leadership experience required
  • CPA preferred

Additional Requirements

This position requires flexibility to work extended hours as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Some travel may be required.
