Second Shift Quality Control Chemist

History

Spartan Chemical Company, Inc., located in Maumee, Ohio, is an international manufacturer of chemical specialty maintenance products that are marketed through a selective network of distributors, which in turn sell to institutional, industrial, and commercial accounts.

Summary Description

Under the general supervision of the Quality Control Manager, this person will perform a variety of tasks involving chemical sampling, wet chemistry testing, and data log in of finished products and raw materials. This position will be responsible for Spartan’s quality operations on second shift and therefore requires the ability to work independently while exercising good judgment and initiative.

Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will have a 2 to 4 year degree in the sciences. Direct laboratory testing and/or manufacturing experience is preferred.

Primary responsibilities for this full-time position include, but are not limited to:

  • Testing and approving bulk finished product batches.
  • Sampling, testing and releasing raw material lots.
  • Approving product samples from the manufacturing lines prior to production runs.
  • Interfacing with production management and hourly workers on a continual basis.
  • Entering test results into Formulator database.
  • Generating Certificates of Analysis for customer orders.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Chemistry, Biology or general sciences.
  • Experience in general wet chemistry processes of pH, Solids, Viscosity and Titration Methods.
  • Energetic, detailed oriented, able to adhere to deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications.
  • Strong computer skills required.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Analytical (LC, GC, FTIR) and/or cGMP/GLP experience a plus.
