Sauder Store and Outlet is looking for a customer service-centered individual to work on our sales floor as well as in our warehouse area. As part of the Sauder Store and Outlet team, you are the face of Sauder and our products to the everyday consumer. The desired applicant will show excellent customer service by interacting in a pleasant, friendly manner with customers. The store associate will spend time helping customers by answering questions about our products as well as helping them purchase items and move large items to their vehicles. The store associate will also help in our warehouse area by helping to unload inventory (desks, bookshelves, and other furniture), and move and organize merchandise in the warehouse.

This is a full-time position with required weekend work. Shifts are Tuesday – Saturday. Hours vary but will fall between 9:00 am – 6:00 pm Tuesday to Friday and 9:00 am to 3:00 pm Saturday.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively assists customer out on selling floor by showing merchandise or directing the customer to the appropriate area of the showroom, assisting with internet inquiries and references, providing guidance on product variations (e.g. color, models, sizes, etc.), helping to determine the compatibility of customer usage with the design or statistics of the product.
  • Maintains solid working knowledge of Sauder product lines and attributes, and purchased accessory items
  • Use the computer system, when necessary, to inquire about merchandise statistics and availability.
  • Interact with customers in a pleasant, friendly, courteous manner, either in person or on the phone. Will need to be able to learn our phone system to route calls when necessary.
  • Complete tasks related to checking a customer out, ringing up the purchase, and taking and documenting payments (cash, credit, and other company-approved methods of payment)
    • May also prepare purchase orders for products and then direct them to the cash register to complete the transaction.
  • Receives, organizes, and maintains inventory, either by moving materials/merchandise by hand or by use of a forklift.
    • Will need to be able to unload a trailer of inventory.
  • Records incoming inventory/merchandise and enters re-order data into the internal order fulfillment computer system.
  • Receives and prices merchandise for the showroom.
  • Assembles & repairs merchandise both for customers and the showroom.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience
High School diploma OR GED plus 1-year relevant experience or post-high school education/training.


Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds, plus occasionally must lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Additional Information

  • Sauder Forklift license is required (must be 18 years old to obtain)
  • Shifts Tuesday – Saturday; Shifts vary T-F 9-6 and Sat 9-3
