The Sr. Communications Specialist produces a continuous cadence of content for internal communications channels that is distributed to the company’s 25,000 employees across the globe. In alignment with the enterprise strategy, content engages employees, communicates goals and milestones, enhances leader connection, impact and reputation, and drives the company forward. In addition, this role is an advocate for the use of various forms of content and digital content delivery, as well as new communications technologies, to support message effectiveness.

Span of Control: No direct reports
Location: Hybrid; within driving distance of Toledo, Ohio
Lead the content development and execution of digital content delivered across the Owens Corning global workforce.
- In alignment with the company’s enterprise strategy, create an ongoing content calendar for company news and storytelling that educates, aligns, and energizes employees globally.
- Develop digital-first content that utilizes Owens Corning communication tools, including its communications platform and app, to provide relevant and timely information to employees.
- Work closely alongside subject matter experts and other Corporate Affairs team members to ensure integrated content across communications channels.
- Identify ways to convey information so it is easy to understand, fresh and appealing – using a variety of communication tools to generate interest (written articles, infographics, videos, etc.)
- Champion accuracy and timeliness in information sharing.
Serve as communications partner and counsel for communications initiatives and campaigns and key functional teams. Lead news generation for Owens Corning Toledo campus employees.
- Serve as a key conduit and strategic partner to select corporate-based teams including, but not limited to, Affinity groups, United Way campaign, and other major/recurring communication programs.
- Provide partnership, perspective, and professional communications counsel to these teams to ensure coordination, consistency, and relevance in communications.
- Coordinate with World Headquarters-based teams (e.g., Facilities, Wellness Center, Health Clinic, and Food Services) to ensure information awareness and flow specifically for Toledo-based employees.
- Coordinate content for digital display boards in the World Headquarters.
Champion Owens Corning communications platform and app (OC Now) to drive increased and expanded use.
- Serve as a visible champion for OC Now by creating campaigns, content and processes that drive employees to seek information here.
- Partner with Communications Technology Specialist to understand the full capability of the platform and maximize its use for message delivery to various internal audiences.
- Be aware of relevant trends in digital content delivery and adapt content and usage of OC Now to support modern message delivery.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, professional writing, journalism, or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a communications role.
- Excellent written communication skills, including AP Style knowledge.
- Strong process orientation and project management skills.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Project execution and commitment to deadlines for high-priority communication projects while building cross-team alliances and managing timelines.
- Demonstrated ability to write and produce content for multiple audiences/stakeholders.
- Knowledge of global business culture and related nuances impacting communication is preferred.

- Proven record of achieving organizational objectives by developing communications that connect with resonance and clarity.
