Advertised Position Title:

Specialist, Student Accounts

Job Description:

Responsible for all student account functions including collection, customer service, and cash application.

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for resolving all outstanding student accounts through telephone, mail, email, and direct contacts while exercising knowledge of college policies, FERPA, and FDCPA. Provide collection follow up.

  • Work directly with other departments within the college to establish and maintain accurate follow up and resolution on applicable accounts. Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills to facilitate

  • problem solving and account resolution.

  • Process Toledo drop box and mail payments.

  • Responsible for maintaining accounting operations in accordance with Toledo Business Affairs and Controller's Office.

  • Exhibit and maintain professional contact with the State of Ohio Attorney General's Office, outside collection agencies, and other College personnel.

  • Responsible for the accuracy and maintenance of all cash drawers and tills received in the Office of Student Accounts. Responsible for the accuracy of cash receipts and all daily bank deposits for Student Accounts.

  • Provide support to other Student Accounts Office functions as assigned. Responsible for accurate billing, initiating adjustments when applicable and completing necessary reports.

  • Any and all other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of Excel, Word, Workday system, FERPA, and FDCPA.

  • Skills: Customer service, written and oral communication, organizational

  • Abilities: Typing, proficient decision making, problem solving, multi-tasking

  • Other Characters: Team oriented, attention to detail, good work ethic, stress tolerant, ability to maintain confidentiality

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)

  • Customer Service, data entry

Preferred Requirements:

  • Associate degree or two-year technical certificate.
