Owens Community College
Essential Functions:
• Encourages, assists & directs students to utilize the resources available for self-improvement within Owens Community College, such as the library, computers, practice skills laboratory, student services and blackboard shells.
• Assists final semester students of the nursing programs to prepare for the licensure examination.
• Maintains and updates a collection of learning materials helpful to students
• Prepares and reports data, including referrals, remedial activities, and academic outcomes of students referred by their faculty member.
• Consults with faculty concerning issues that would facilitate student achievement in nursing courses.
• Remains current in resource materials for development learning in nursing and courses that impact success in nursing education.
• Offers content review sessions according to each course.
• Offers success seminars each semester
• Provides tutoring services & remediation sessions as needed to all nursing programs.
• Provides instruction in 6 contact hours each semester
• Other duties as assigned.
• Develop/coordinate math proficiency testing and remediation for the nursing programs.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of the resources available to the nursing students on the Owens Community College campuses.
Knowledge of NCLEX test plans for both the RN and PN students.
Knowledge of the resources available via the web for student’s success.
Knowledge of the nursing programs curriculum plans and curriculum mapping.
Communicate clearly and effectively with students, faculty & staff regarding concerns related to the nursing courses.
To use computer technology/resources while teaching and remediating students.
To communicate/instruct effectively in the classroom setting.
Ability to multitask.
Ability to provide students clear and effective feedback for success in the nursing programs.
Ability to have a professional demeanor and the ability to help the students make positive decisions for their success in the nursing program.

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
Current, valid licensure as a registered nurse in Ohio; or a Multi-state Registered Nurse License
Completion of an approved registered nursing education program.
Experience for at least two years in the practice of nursing as a registered nurse.
Preferred Qualifications
A master's degree;
If the individual does not possess a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree, the master's or other academic degree, including, but not limited to a Ph.D., shall be in nursing.
o(ii) If the individual possesses a Bachelor of Science in nursing degree, the master's degree may be, but is not required to be, in nursing; and
Certification as a NLN Nurse Educator (CNE), DNP, PhD, EdD
