FWS - Information Technology Services (IT Assistant)

Job Description:

Tasks may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Work with Help Desk software, make customer calls, reset passwords and work with customers at the front counter.
• Gather and enter information regarding customer’s problem into the college’s Help Desk database in an accurate and informative manner.
• Assist the Help Desk staff.
• Interact with customers in a professional, efficient manner.
• Update documentation on the problem/resolution as needed.
• Receive and route Switchboard calls.
• Use IT related software.
• Setting up and cleaning classrooms, labs and kiosks.
• Assisting staff with the mounting and installation of A/V equipment.
• Cable managing.
• Receiving and transporting deliveries such as pallets of paper, hardware, toner and other miscellaneous items.
• Delivering and installing toner, paper and staples.
• Driving State provided vehicles.
• Tracking all tickets and tasks.
• Special projects and tasks as assigned.
• Coverage includes all college locations.

Minimum level of education: High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).

Minimum types of experience: Basic computer skills.

Essential Function: This position provides tier one support for students, faculty and staff. This can include work at the Help Desk Service Counter, Switchboard, in classrooms/offices, or within any department of ITS. Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge: Basic computer hardware and software knowledge. All student HDSE / SWAT student employees must have a valid driver’s license and will have to fill out an Employee Vehicle Operation request in order to drive any of the State-owned vehicles.
Skills: Communicate well orally and in writing. Good customer skills. Good organizational skills.

Abilities: Professionally interact with students, faculty, and staff, report to work location in a timely manner and consistently, communicate on the telephone in a professional manner, lift up to 50 pounds, learn various software and hardware programs as needed.
Other Characteristics: Be willing to work together as an integral part of a team, perform tasks to the best of your ability, follow guidelines regarding your responsibility to your computer lab, have an interest in maintaining a position of trust and responsibility.
