Custodian (Second Shift)

Job Description:

Essential Functions:

  • Perform thorough cleaning, sweeping, mopping, and dusting throughout assigned area and assigned hours.

  • Ensure that assigned areas are properly maintained; burned out light bulbs are replaced, restrooms are cleaned and stocked with towels and tissue, and facilities in need or repair are reported.

  • Provide minor maintenance repair as needed during shift.

  • Move furniture, set up chairs and equipment for special events.

  • Pick up trash by emptying wastebaskets and taking refuse to assigned outside work area. Does light lifting.

  • Clean windows and remove soil from walls, furniture, and office equipment.

  • Perform other related custodial task as required.

  • Perform seasonal duties. (i.e. snow removal and salting)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of custodial processes and procedures.

  • Ability to properly operate custodial equipment including but not limited to floor buffer, walk behind scrubber, carpet extractor, mop and bucket.

  • Ability to take and understand verbal instructions.

  • Ability to safety operate snow removal equipment.

  • Ability to work independently and be able to maintain good rapport with constituents and co-workers.

  • Ability to handle a number of different tasks in an organized fashion.

  • Ability to follow bus schedules and routes as directed.

  • Team-oriented and professional in approach to detail-oriented tasks.

Minimum Education/Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)

  • One year related experience in custodial cleaning and equipment in a commercial environment.
