Essential Functions:
Supervises day and evening operations of tool room. Ensures coverage of tool room operation.
Hires, supervises student workers and Tool Room Attendant. Trains new employees on safety and procedures of the tool room.
Manages equipment and tools within the tool room. Ensures students, staff, and faculty are issued appropriate tools and supplies. Ensures tools and equipment is in good working order upon return.
Utilizes SnapOn Level 5 software to control inventory of tools and equipment. Checks daily for tool and equipment return and follows up regarding unreturned items.
Responsible for parts management, which includes ordering, issuing, and recording of all parts and supplies to students and instructors.
Responsible for general cleaning of lab areas, including sweeping and mopping. Maintains cleaning supplies for the Transportation Technologies labs. Supervises, delegates, and evaluates cleaning work of Tool Room Attendant and student employees.
Oversees the Transportation Technologies department key rack, which includes customer vehicle keys, donated vehicle keys, etc. Responsible for security of customer vehicle keys, collecting proper paperwork of payment of service, if need, and return of key(s) to customer upon verification of paid invoice.
Responsible for all shipping and receiving for Transportation Technologies vendors.
Works in conjunction with the Laboratory Technicians to maintain the equipment needed for lab instruction and classroom instruction.
Manages the maintenance of tools and equipment within the tool room. Makes recommendation to the department chair for outside services for repairs as appropriate.
Answers telephones for the Transportation Technologies Office, when necessary.
Responsible for maintaining records of customer vehicles used for training Transportation Technologies students. Including creating repair orders and customer invoices utilizing software provided. Cashier responsibilities include collection of payment from customers; handles cash and checks and utilizes Department of Public Safety to deliver money to Business Affairs. Maintains customer record history.
Makes recommendations to the department chair and acquires quotes for replacement tools and equipment as necessary. Initiates purchase orders with department secretary upon approval from department chair.
Tracks expenditures of consumables and makes recommendations to budget authority.
Meets regularly with sales representatives to maintain good relationships with vendors.
Other Characteristics:
Good Communication skills verbal, written and phone.
Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
Knowledge of technician tools and maintenance of tools.
