Owens Community College
The primary responsibility for this position is to instruct sonography students in the clinical setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Maintains knowledge of current imaging practices in Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Is knowledgeable of program goals. Understands the clinical objectives and evaluation system.
Maintains competency in the professional discipline and instructional and evaluative techniques through continuing professional development. Demonstrates effective, positive communication with students, co-workers, supervisors, and others.
Monitors compliance of program procedures and provides correction to students if non-compliant according to the guidelines set forth in the Sonography Department Procedure Manual. Maintains continuity of instruction between the clinical site and the college by communicating college procedures with clinical staff and monitoring their compliance.
Essential Functions:
Provides students with clinical instruction and supervision.
Evaluates students’ clinical competence and completes necessary documentation.
Maintains current knowledge of program procedures and student progress.
Communicates with lab instructors and the Program Director as necessary.
Other Characteristics:
Promotes high morale among students, instructors and members of the faculty by fair and equitable treatment. Promotes and instills the Professional Code of Ethics. Per clinical site requirements: Vaccination records proving immunity to certain communicable diseases will be required. Yearly physical, TB testing, and flu vaccination will also be required.
Minimum Education/Experience:
Associate degree or two-year technical certificate
ARDMS registered in AB and OB.
Documents the equivalent of two years full time clinical experience in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
