Nationwide Children’s Hospital - Toledo joined the northwest Ohio community in 2022 with a mission to provide nationally ranked pediatric care to children and families locally. Through clinical programs, community partnerships, educational resources, and more, Nationwide Children’s - Toledo’s team of pediatric experts is dedicated to providing high-quality care close to home. Located inside Mercy Health St. Vincent Medical Center, Nationwide Children’s - Toledo offers a wide range of specialty services and general pediatric care at nine primary care locations throughout the region.

Nationwide Children’s Hospital Toledo is currently seeking Pediatric Hospitalists to join their existing team located in Toledo, Ohio.

The successful candidates will join 5 board-certified pediatric hospitalists who currently staff Nationwide Children’s Toledo. This team provides 24/7 coverage for the inpatient pediatric service with both day and night shifts as well as some coverage of the well-baby nursery. PICU and NICU units are also on site. The team is open to the option of hiring a nocturnist, if desired. Current day shifts are 9 hours and night shifts are 15 hours. Delivery attendance is not required.

The position includes responsibility for teaching residents (Pediatric and Family Medicine) as well as medical students. There are multiple opportunities for growth to lead committees in different areas of interest and to virtually attend Pediatric Ground Rounds with physicians on Nationwide Children’s main campus in Columbus, OH.

Qualified candidates must be board certified/ board eligible in Pediatrics, patient-centered and demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in pediatric care.

Job Description:


Essential Functions:
  • Conducts patient assessments and diagnoses medical conditions.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans for patients in accordance with established protocols. Monitors patient progress and adjusts treatment plans as necessary.
  • Orders and interprets diagnostic tests to aid in patient diagnosis and treatment.
  • Communicates with patients and their families to provide education and support.
  • Maintains accurate and up-to-date medical records for each patient and coordinates care with other healthcare professionals.
  • Participates in the training and education of medical students, residents, and fellows as required.
  • Stays up-to-date with medical advancements and research to provide the best possible care.

Education Requirement:
  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine equivalent, required.
  • Graduate of an approved Fellowship program if applicable, required.

Licensure Requirement:
  • Medical License in the State of Ohio, required.
  • Unrestricted licensed physician, required.

Certifications:

Board Certification or eligibility in Pediatrics, required.
