Essential Functions:
- Develops age-appropriate lesson plans and activities for young children.
- Monitors and supervises children to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Communicates effectively with parents regarding children's progress and behavior.
- Implements positive discipline techniques to encourage good behavior.
- Observes and assesses children's development and growth.
- Collaborates with other teachers and staff to create a nurturing learning environment.
Education Requirement:
- Associate's Degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or related field with 30 quarter or 24 semester hours in Child Development or Early Childhood Education, or equivalent credential, preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree, preferred.
Certifications:
If no associate or bachelor's degree, then an active Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, or certification within one year of hire, required
Skills:
- Effective communication skills to interact with children, families, and other professionals.
- Ability to supervise and direct Assistant Teachers and students.
- Flexibility and ability to handle multiple tasks and change priorities.
- Ability to create a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
Experience:
Experience in an early childhood education program, preferred.

- Able to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to sit (on floor) in close proximity to children during play and activity periods. Constantly
- Ability to lift a child into a crib and place them in it safely. Constantly
- Ability to actively supervise children during gross motor play. Constantly
- Ability to move rapidly in potentially unsafe physical situations: example: a child falling off the climber. Constantly
- Ability to bend over quickly to pick up children by their torso, not by their arms. Constantly
