Overview:


- Typical Hours: As early as 7:30am and as late as 7:00pm.

- Rotating every 4th weekend and rotating holidays.


Job Description Summary:


Aids the pharmacist in the processing of prescription orders along with preparation and dispensing of patient medications within the three outpatient pharmacies. This is an entry level position.


Job Description:


Essential Functions:
  • Accepts prescriptions, establishes billing/patient charges, documents patients’ allergies correctly, interprets and enters information regarding the outpatient prescription into the computer system
  • Prepares and packages injectable and oral medication for outpatient use
  • Independently resolves on-line adjudication problems with Third Party Payors without pharmacist intervention
  • Maintains the cleanliness and neatness of the outpatient pharmacy
  • Replenishes pharmacy stock area and notifies pharmacist or inventory coordinators of concerns
  • Utilizes math and problem-solving skills (i.e. algebra to calculate amount of drug needed for preparation of prescriptions.

Education Requirement:

As required by listed licensure and/or certification requirement.


Licensure Requirement:

Board of Pharmacy Technician License (Registered or Certified)


Certifications:

Certification as a pharmacy technician or documented passing score on certification exam prior to start date (CPhT, ExCPT)


Skills:

Demonstrated skills in algebra by passing score on math competency administered on site


Experience:

Six months of previous pharmacy experience preferred
