Lead Pharmacist - St. Rita's Medical Center

Job Summary:

The Lead Pharmacist is responsible for the day-to-day management of the assigned area and provides pharmaceutical care through clinical services, teaching opportunities, general staffing, and staff support within the pharmacy department. While observing and managing the daily operations of assigned pharmacy services, the Lead Pharmacist will ensure compliance with all policy, procedures, and regulatory agency requirements.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensures the patient database is complete and compiles the necessary information needed to design a patient-specific pharmacy plan of care with goals for therapy
  • Performs accurate prescription order entry to ensure medications are properly concentrated, without incompatibilities, stable, and properly stored
  • Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all medication processed through the pharmacy
  • Oversees the work of pharmacy support personnel and ensures their job duties are completed in a timely manner
  • Assists in the training and supervision of pharmacy support personnel, pharmacy interns, and pharmacy-profession students
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy from an ACPE accredited School of Pharmacy (required)

Advanced pharmacy degree, residency or degree in healthcare leadership (preferred)

Licensure/Certification:

Pharmacist Licensure – State Board of Pharmacy (required)

Experience:

3 years of experience working as a pharmacist in a pharmacy (required)

  • Demonstrates leadership competencies and skills for the position, including excellent communication, customer service, continuous quality improvement, relationship development, and decision making
  • Possesses extensive knowledge of clinical practice or function and a thorough understanding of the organization and work environment
