Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This individual shall pre-register, register patients needing outpatient testing. Register all clinic/recurring patients.
Order tests for ancillary departments.
Pre-register, register and admit patients as needed.
Compliance check for medical necessity.
Distribute admission copies to proper departments.
Transport/escort patients.
Third shift: answer phones, admit patients, place patients, keep in contact with nursing supervisor and float secretary.
Take direct admissions, do census at midnight, file medical records, history and physicals, and laboratory reports in next day patient admission packets.
The individual gives the first impression of the hospital and must act in a professional manner with excellent customer service skills at all times.
Register all patients that arrive in Registration area requiring In/Out patient testing or admission.
Be proficient in compliance checking and use when applicable
Maintain standard of 95% registration accuracy
Answers calls in a professional manner identifying self, area & verbally offering assistance
Must be proficient in good listening skills, friendly tone of voice while speaking slowing and clearly
Must use excellent telephone courtesies such as asking
permission to place on hold or transferring calls while showing respect for the customer
Acknowledges the customer immediately and greets with a warm friendly smile.
Puts the customer at ease by keeping informed throughout the whole encounter
Shows respect for the customer by being discreet and maintaining confidentiality
Pre-register future patients between daily patient visits
Answer all incoming calls into the department in a timely manner.
Assists in completion of returned mail
Proficiency with work related software applications: Windows, Internet/Intranet, Compliance Checker, PHS Scheduling, AS400
Registration and Crystal Reports.
Responsible for maintaining the confidential nature of all Patient Health Information she/he comes in contact with.
Responsible for abiding by SRMC and departmental policies and procedures.
Order tests with efficiency and accuracy
Register patients for off-site areas.
Candidate preferences:
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Any other duties as assigned by the Director, Supervisor, or Teamleader.
