THIS IS A COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT POSITION

This position involves skilled professional and technical work involving patient contact and the performance of various neurophysiological tests.

Work is performed under general supervision in accordance with established procedures. Performance requires good judgment and action in specific situations.

Performs test on neonate, pediatric and adult patients.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Registered EEG Technician preferred.
  • One to two years of experience working as an EEG Technician or in the health care field preferred.
  • Must be able to properly apply electrodes, and manipulate and troubleshoot equipment.
  • Ability to elicit full patient cooperation in performance of tests and observing and handling people who may be apprehensive.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and learn new equipment and procedures.
  • Ability to relate to co-workers, nurses, physicians, and others in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Ability to maintain professional confidences and earn the patient’s trust.
  • Ability to learn and follow good infection control practices and have a thorough knowledge of universal precautions.
  • BLS trained according to AHA guidelines.
  • Ability to push equipment outside of the lab, and the ability to learn and perform the proper technique of transporting, lifting, and moving patients.
  • Must be able to type 35-40 words per minute, and properly perform other clerical function.

Working Conditions

Work is generally performed indoors

Potential for hazardous exposure to blood, body fluids, and airborne pathogens

Must be able to tolerate the the use of collodian and polish remover for short periods of time.
