Job Summary:

The Manager, Radiation is responsible for the operations of Radiation Oncology Department, including the management and leadership of all department personnel, assisting the Radiation Oncologist in selection of practical applications of the department, and ensuring patient satisfaction, patient and staff safety, and cost-effective use of resources.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs interviews, performance appraisals, disciplinary actions, scheduling, and development for Radiation Oncology staff.
  • Supervises therapists in review of treatment field localization to ensure accuracy of treatment.
  • Prepares or oversees annual state licensure report, American College of Radiology (ACR) and/or Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) reports, ensuring the department consistently meets accreditation requirements by implementing safety, quality and process improvements to maintain accreditation.
  • Supervises the department’s Quality Assurance, Patient Satisfaction, and Statistical information. Reports inconsistencies to the correct authority as required.
  • Assumes responsibility for department budget by developing and monitoring expenses, reporting and/or correcting variances, and celebrating successes.
  • Completes the monthly Quality and Financial Reports and understands variances for explanation to the VP.

Education:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of radiation oncologic technology (certificate or Bachelor’s degree) (required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree (must obtain within 5 years of hire) (required)


Licensure/Certification:

  • Licensed in Radiation Therapy by the current state of practice (required)
  • Radiation Oncology Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) (required)
  • BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required)

Experience:

  • 2 years' experience as a Radiation Therapist (required)
  • 5 years' experience as a Radiation Therapist (preferred)
  • CT Simulation experience (preferred)
  • 2 years’ leadership experience (preferred)
