About the opportunity

Werribee Mercy Hospital is entering a landmark new phase, with the opening of a major Emergency Department expansion. This expansion will significantly increase our capacity and enable us to meet the rapidly growing healthcare needs of the Wyndham community, providing timely, high-quality emergency care to an additional 25,000 patients each year.

As we prepare to launch this expanded service, we are seeking Consultants / Medical Specialists. These roles offer a rare opportunity to join the service ahead of opening and play a meaningful role in shaping the future of emergency care in Melbourne’s west. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality emergency care within a growing and evolving service.

The new Emergency Department will offer you the opportunity to:

  • Work within state-of-the-art facilities, including 4 new resuscitation bays, a 16-bed Short Stay Unit (SSU), and purpose-built fast track, paediatric and behavioural assessment zones.

  • Play a key role in leading a major service expansion in one of Australia’s fastest-growing corridors, supported by a stable and values-driven leadership team that prioritises specialist wellbeing and clinical excellence.

  • Access flexible FTE arrangements, with the ability to accommodate sub-specialty interests.

  • Maintain your commitment to teaching in a department that remains ACEM accredited and focused on the next generation of Emergency clinicians.

  • Enjoy a reverse commute against CBD and inner-west traffic.

This is your opportunity to be part of a once-in-a-generation expansion of emergency care in Melbourne’s west.

Don’t just join an Emergency Department – help launch a legacy and take your place at the forefront of care.

What you’ll bring

You bring compassion, professionalism, flexibility and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and service. You value teamwork, collaboration and creating a positive experience for patients, families and colleagues, and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing Emergency Department environment.

You are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a growing service and play a role in supporting the future of emergency care for the Wyndham community.

Where there’s life, there’s Mercy.

Where there’s care, there’s You.

Through the battles and the breakthroughs, we're there. Where will you be?

For over a century, our incredible teams have provided care for people when they need it most. Our people feel great pride in this, and they value the security and stability we offer. But it also means so much opportunity - to build on all that’s gone before, to grow your impact and gain experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.

As a for-purpose organisation with over 10,000 dedicated, compassionate people, we continue to offer more services and deeper care than ever before. With Mercy, you’ll have the chance to make an impact and gain experience that’s hard to find elsewhere.
