About the opportunity
Werribee Mercy Hospital is entering a landmark new phase, with the opening of a major Emergency Department expansion scheduled for 2026. This expansion will significantly increase our capacity and enable us to meet the rapidly growing healthcare needs of the Wyndham community, providing timely, high-quality emergency care to an additional 25,000 patients each year.
As Mercy Health prepares to launch this expanded service, we are seeking Critical Care Registered Nurses who are motivated to be part of something more than a standard role. These roles will play a critical part in building and shaping the nursing workforce that will support the expanded Emergency Department from day one.
This is a rare opportunity to join a service at a defining moment, contributing to the establishment of a modern, high-capability Emergency Department within one of Australia’s fastest-growing corridors. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality emergency care within a growing and evolving service.
The new Emergency Department will offer you the opportunity to:
Work in a state-of-the-art, purpose-built emergency department featuring 4 dedicated resuscitation bays, a 16-bed Short Stay Unit (SSU) and custom-designed paediatric and behavioural assessment zones designed to improve clinical outcomes and staff safety.
Work within a structured rostering model across AM, PM and night duty shifts, supporting a consistent team environment and sustainable way of working.
Access industry-leading leave options, including the ability to purchase additional leave (48/52) and access gender-neutral paid parental leave to support your long-term life goals.
Enhance your financial wellbeing through salary packaging benefits that maximise take-home pay.
Enjoy a reverse commute against CBD and inner-west traffic
This is your opportunity to be part of a once-in-a-generation expansion of emergency care in Melbourne’s west.
Don’t just join an Emergency Department – help launch a legacy and take your place at the forefront of care.
Criteria:
Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse
Minimum of 12–24 months of recent experience in an Australian Emergency Department
Holds a post Graduate Certificate in Critical Care
A commitment to clinical excellence and continuous improvement
What you’ll bring
You bring compassion, professionalism, flexibility and a strong commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and service. You value teamwork, collaboration and creating a positive experience for patients, families and colleagues, and are confident working in a dynamic and ever changing Emergency Department environment.
You are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to a growing service and play a role in supporting the future of emergency care for the Wyndham community.
