Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Psychology Extern provides psychological evaluations for patients with significant medical concerns on an inpatient and outpatient setting. They provide evidenced based psychotherapy for patients as needed.
Essential Job Functions
Completes pre-surgical bariatric evaluations on an outpatient basis.
Provides brief psychological treatment for weight management patients.
Co-facilitates pre-surgical support groups for bariatric patient prior to surgery.
Completes bedside evaluations in acute rehab setting.
Provides evidenced-based psychological services in acute rehab setting.
Administers, scores, and interprets psychological testing measures.
Provides education groups in acute rehab and outpatient rehab settings.

Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age, specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in departmental policies and procedures.
