Job Description

Summary:

Reports to the Department Head and is responsible for facilitating patient flow in the department by coordinating staff activities and ensuring proper resource utilization. Supervises and delegates triage responsibilities. Provides direct nursing care to neonate, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • A current license as a Registered Nurse from the State of Ohio required, ACLS, PALS required.

  • Three to five years of nursing experience with a minimum of two years emergency nursing experience with one year of recent experience in the Emergency Department is required.

  • A high level of analytical ability in order to gather and interpret complex data and to find solutions to unusual and difficult problems is required. Possesses ability to anticipate problems and effectively problem-solve.

  • Exhibits tact and diplomacy when problem-solving. Serves as a role model for staff and must exhibit professionalism at all times.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Graduate of an accredited college/university or institution.

  • Experience: Experience preferred. Must be able to circulate multiple specialty service lines independently including but not limited to; ortho, neuro, davinci and trauma.

  • Registration, Certification or Licensure Requirement: Current Ohio RN licensure; AHA BLS certification required. Other certification required per department policy.

Leadership Responsibility:

The Coordinator is a licensed professional nurse responsible for and organizing the delivery of patient care and teaching through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. The Coordinator also directs and guides activities of other nursing personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing, and the established policies and procedures of the hospital. The Coordinator nurse serves in a leadership role as a shift coordinator. Assists in staff evaluations, QI projects and special projects as assigned.
