Experience: One year of transplant experience preferred
Special qualifications: Must be able to successfully complete established competencies for the position within designated probationary period. Clinical experience for Specialty areas of renal disease and/or transplant. (preferred)
Primary Job Duties:
Assesses, collaborates, recommends, and delivers nutrition care for individual clients/patients as a part of the pre-transplant/pre-donation evaluation, both the short-term and long-term recovery phases after organ transplantation/donation or abdominal surgery, and during medical management of organ-specific diseases in both the in-patient and out-patient settings. Assesses, collaborates, recommends implementation and monitors hyperalimentation, enteral feeding and oral supplementation for the individual clients/patients. Educates and counsels patients/clients on nutrition as it relates to chronic and end-stage organ failure, organ transplantation, and prevention and management of associated chronic diseases. Provides nutrition-related information and technical assistance. Actively participates in Patient Selection Committee (PSC). Actively participates in inpatient rounds. Provides transplant nutrition education to staff. Actively participates in transplant department meetings. Creates and updates nutrition related patient education materials.
Performs as a member of the interdisciplinary team responsible for the design, coordination and implementation of optimal nutrition care and education for patients of all ages. Nutrition care includes the Nutrition Care Process, routinely performing Nutrition Focused Physical Assessments to identify degree of malnutrition, order writing privileges including enteral feeds and oral supplements, coordinating high risk medication administration of parenteral nutrition.
4 year Bachelor's Degree Required
Licensed Dietitian (LD) within the State of Ohio or Limited Permit (when applicable) from the State of Ohio Medical Board;
Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with Commission on Dietetic Registration or eligible to sit for the Registration Exam
Earned specialty certification: Renal Nutrition; Oncology Nutrition; Geriatric Nutrition; Certified Diabetic Educator (CDE); Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (CNSC
