General Summary:

The Health Unit Coordinator is responsible for the clerical duties of the unit, maintaining communication with in the unit and other nursing units and other members of the multidisciplinary team. Transcribes and processes physicians’ orders, provider’s informational services and assistance to physicians, patients, visitors and other departments. Orders and maintains supplies and forms for the unit. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

1.Education: Graduate of a high school or GED.


2.Experience:
a. Previous health care experience in a patient care environment.
b. Previous health care experience preferred.


3.Knowledge and Abilities:
a. Competency in medical terminology as evidenced by ability to pass basic medical terminology test.
b. Basic computer skills.
c. Good interpersonal skills; must be able to interact professionally with physicians, patients and visitors.
d. Personnel required to perform patient care duties must demonstrate and maintain required competency.

Hours:

  • Shift: Nights

  • Hours: 7:00PM - 7:30AM

  • Hours per pay period: 72

  • Weekend, holiday and on-call rotation required per department policy
