GENERAL SUMMARY
Provides a full range of technical support to the imaging center under the direction of a remote or on-site Radiologist and a site manager. Is a highly organized, self-
motivated individual with strong technical, and communication abilities. Possesses strong customer service skills that are essential for this role. May be required to occasionally cover other outpatient imaging center(s), work on some weekends, or be on-call for service. Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on assigned unit.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Graduate of approved JRC program required.
- BLS CPR certification required.
- ARDMS Certification required
Must maintain accuracy in patient positioning and scientific application of established technical factors.
Demonstrated high degree of professionalism and dedication to principles of quality patient care and technical and professional education.
Training to perform blood draws may be required.
Experience with General Electric Medical Imaging Equipment is a plus, but not mandatory.
Must possess an ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, physicians, patients and families. A level of interpersonal skills sufficient to explain procedures to patients and/or families allay apprehension, obtain medical information and relay pertinent information to physicians is required.
Must possess sufficient skills and initiative to function independently in an outpatient setting.
BLS CPR certification required.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- 1. Interacts with department staff, ancillary departments, nursing staff, physicians and patients to ensure an organized and comprehensive implementation of patient care.
- 2. Remains knowledgeable of radiation protection requirements.
- 3. Employs proper body mechanics and techniques for transport and positioning of patients and equipment.
- 4. Performs needed duties to support staffing, quality assurance, quality control and technical requirements.
- 5. Supports lead tech to coordinate workflow and room assignments as needed.
- 6. Provides input for new employee hiring activities as needed.
- 7. Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, family members, physicians, co-workers and staff.
- 8. Provides input into policies specific to Ultrasound
- 9. Supports orientation and training of new employees
- 10. Assists at front desk and other modalities as required.
- 11. Supports ordering of inventory and supplies, and scheduling patients as needed.
- 12. Must maintain a professional level that promotes the well-being of the patient and team work among the health care providers.
- 13. Employs proper body mechanic techniques for the transportation, transfer and positioning of patients and equipment.
- 14. Employs safe operation principals of ultrasound equipment and hospital procedures including infection control.
- 15. Participates in staff meetings and stays abreast of changes in policies, procedures and technical advancements.
- 16. Attends education programs as described by department policy.
- 17. May be required to assist manager or sales representative on occasional sales visits to physician offices.
- 18. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on assigned unit.
- 19. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span by completing continuing education program.
- 20. Interprets information need to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age-specific need: a. Neonate b. Pediatric c. Adolescent d. Adult e. Geriatric
