Summary:

Under general supervision, assists physicians during heart catheterization procedures by performing various technical duties, such as aseptically preparing catheterization site, monitoring patient's condition, operating fluoroscopic and standard radiographic equipment, and developing films. Calculates data used by physicians in diagnosis of heart defects, assists physicians during interventional procedures. Provides patient care to adult, pediatric and geriatric patients.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrates knowledge and skill in nursing theory and practice of nursing process.

  • Nurses assigned to a specialty unit will be required to meet criteria established for that unit.

Job Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current Ohio RN licensure.

  • Must have ACLS certification.

  • Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to deal effectively with patients and their fears, their families, physicians and various medical personnel.

  • Must have analytical abilities necessary to monitor and assess patient’s condition, and to perform calculations for diagnosis of heart defects.

  • Work requires 6 to 12 months on-the-job training in electrocardiograph interpretation, aseptic techniques, and cardiac diagnostic and interventional procedures.

  • PALS certification preferred.

Hours:

  • Shift: Days

  • Hours per pay period: 72

  • Weekend, holiday and on-call rotation required per department policy
