OVERVIEW
Join our team as an OT Engineer!
This is a hybrid role based out of our Maumee, Ohio office. The position is salaried and includes eligibility for overtime pay.
We are seeking a Mid-Level OT Engineer to join our Manufacturing Systems Infrastructure (MSI) team. This role focuses on OT (Operational Technology) infrastructure, often described as IT for manufacturing, supporting industrial automation systems in manufacturing environments.
This position includes development of PLC logic or HMI graphics and works closely with Controls and Industrial Systems engineers to design and deliver the infrastructure platforms that support control system automation. This role is part of a system integrator organization and involves hands-on design, deployment, and support of OT network, computing, and application infrastructure for client facilities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
OT Network Infrastructure
Assess, Design, and implement OT Ethernet networks
Configure switches, firewalls, routers with VLANs, routing boundaries, firewall rules, and access policies
Support industrial DMZ architectures and secure remote access solutions
Troubleshoot OT network connectivity, performance, and reliability issues
OT Computing Infrastructure
Design, Configure, and deploy OT computing platforms, including:
Physical and virtual servers
Engineering and operator workstations
Thick and thin HMI clients
Remote Desktop and terminal server architectures
Support OT domains and Active Directory - based environments, including authentication and policy configuration
Configure supporting services such as storage, backup, monitoring, and time services
Assist with platform standardization and lifecycle planning
OT Application Infrastructure
Design, Configure, and Deploy OT application infrastructure, including:
HMI/SCADA platforms
Process Data Historians, Batch Servers, Asset Management
Supporting applications such as databases, spreadsheets, SQL Server-based OT applications
Support redundancy, performance, and availability requirements
Coordinate with Controls and Industrial Systems engineers to ensure infrastructure aligns with application requirements
Project & Client Responsibilities
Own defined technical scopes or smaller projects
Translate client requirements into infrastructure designs using established standards
Participate in design reviews, commissioning activities, and post-startup support
Communicate technical designs and tradeoffs clearly to clients and project teams
Provide technical input to project managers for scheduling and estimating
Documentation & Standards
Produce and maintain network diagrams, build and configuration documents, and as-built documentation
Follow established MSI standards and contribute improvement recommendations
Support internal testing and verification activities
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience
3–5 years of experience supporting OT or industrial infrastructure environments
Experience with:
OT or industrial Ethernet networks
Computing platforms used in manufacturing systems
Virtualized environments (Hyper-V, VMware, or similar)
Active Directory or domain-based OT environments
Ability to work independently within defined standards
Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills
Willingness to work in manufacturing and industrial environments
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working for a system integrator
Exposure to industrial automation platforms and HMI/SCADA systems
Experience with:
Industrial DMZ architectures
Remote access and thin client solutions
Backup and recovery for OT system
Relevant certifications (networking, Microsoft, virtualization) are a plus
Familiarity with industrial cybersecurity concepts and best practices
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; stoop, kneel, crouch; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk, and hear.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds or more.
Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
This employee may perform industrial field work which could include exposure to hazardous locations, inclement weather, moving mechanical parts, noise, ladders, uneven ground, and stairs.
This employee may perform industrial field work which could include exposure to a wide range of known food allergens.

We offer market-competitive compensation for an OT Engineer - Manufacturing Systems Infrastructure with a base range of $79,000 to $102,000 annually, and a total compensation package that includes quarterly bonuses, 401(k) matching, and overtime pay. Salaries are based on experience, skills, and qualifications.
