OVERVIEW

Join our team as an Accounting Manager!

This is a role based out of our Maumee, Ohio office. The position is a salaried role.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the key areas of the accounting department: Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and Payroll. This role serves as a consultant for managers within the company, advising them of financial activity within their respective areas of responsibility.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works in a safe manner at all times. Adheres to both Matrix and client-established safety standards when appropriate. Follows all Matrix Fundamentals.
  • Supervises, coaches, and develops Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Senior Accounting staff.
  • Controls and directs management of the Accounting Department to ensure efficiency and accuracy of the systems, including but not limited to the general ledger and primary accounting system of the company, payroll, banking, and other systems related to the accounting and fiscal control systems of the company.
  • Oversight of project accounting for the company, including proper adherence to proper revenue recognition, job cost, and monitoring of the work-in-process.
  • Ensures that payroll records are properly updated and maintained, that the payroll system functions as required to meet the company needs, that the payroll processing schedules are adhered to, and that the reports necessary for tax, worker’s compensation, unemployment, 401K, HSA and FSA plan reporting are properly prepared from the system. Acts as liaison with third-party payroll processor.
  • Assists the CFO with preparation of month-end close, month-end financial statements, variance analysis, and preparation of other financial reports as requested.
  • Coordinates the annual review of the financial statements by the outside accountant. This includes performing or directing client-prepared support schedules, preparation of financial statements, and adjustments necessary for the year end closing, obtaining supporting documentation for the outside accountants to support their review, and review of the resulting financial statements and accompanying notes to ensure accuracy.
  • Serves as a key owner of the ERP/accounting systems as the backbone for the accounting and project costing.
  • Prepares year-end tax filings (401(k) plan census, W-2s, and 1099 forms).
  • Ensures cross-functional collaboration with Project Management, Operations, and Human Resources.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field required.
  • Two to three years of direct supervisory or management experience required.
  • Five to eight years of experience in accounting.
  • Proficiency in prevailing office software (Excel and Microsoft Word) is required.
  • CPA or CMA designation preferred.
  • Experience working in a billable environment preferred.
  • Must have a strong grasp of financial and performance management.
  • Strong sense of ethical conduct and thoroughness.
  • Occasional local and/or overnight travel may be required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, long periods of sitting at a computer are required.
  • The employee may occasionally be required to lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, skills, and qualifications, ranging from $95,000 to $110,000 annually. The final salary will be determined based on various factors, including the candidate's experience and qualifications.
