The base hourly rate for this position is $19.75

If you have a background or interest in manufacturing, we are hiring a full-time Machine Attendant at our Waterville, OH location.

Pay Rate: $19.48

The Waterville plant manufactures fiberglass for a diverse range of products and end-use applications. This operation makes products for battery separators, filtration grade papers, roofing, glass mats, wall boards, plastic reinforcements compounds, molds, carpet, flooring, battery, and facer markets plus a wide variety of specialty use glass papers for medical and environmental applications also used in transportations, commercial, defense and aerospace applications.

As a Machine Attendant, you will be responsible for communicating with previous shift, discuss production status and any mechanical problems that have occurred, operating equipment, performing quality control inspections, and problem solving to ensure the safe and smooth operation of people, equipment, and product.

Must have the flexibility to work any shift, including rotating, weekends, holidays, and overtime.

Your Day to Day:

  • Always use safe work practices, follow all safety rules and procedures, immediately report any hazardous conditions, and fully participate in safety programs.
  • Wear all personal protective equipment as required by management, including but not limited to all or some of the following: protective shoes, glasses, ear plugs, bump cap or hard hat, gloves, dust mask, or respirator.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk. The employee is occasionally required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and communicate accurately with coworkers. The employee will frequently engage in repetitive motions. The employee must frequently, lift, push or pull 50 pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds with assistance. Visual acuity is required to work around and with machinery including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

HOW IT’S DONE:

  • Communicate with previous shift: discuss production status and any mechanical problems that have occurred.
  • Obtain required amount of fiber to be tested and prepare according to given test procedure per product. Weigh and measure amount accordingly to nearest gram.
  • Run test on multiple samples simultaneously. Place sample with water in blender and run for given time period. Dump sample into tester, fill with water, and set timer. Record drain time. Discard sample and clean tester screen.
  • Enter test results into computer. Retest when results are out of spec. Notify Machine Attendant and Operators if out of spec results persist.
  • Monitor collection of fiber and troubleshoot as needed. Use knife to remove accumulated fiber from mandrels and place on table. Inspect fiber for discrepancies. Place fiber in fiber bins. Operate machine controls to alter between mandrels as needed.
  • Transport fiber bins to scale in order to weigh bins. Transport full 50lb fiber bins to baler area.
  • Adjust speed and suction rate on machines, as needed, using equipment controls. Monitor collection screens and change air whips as needed. Document any mechanical discrepancies. Notify supervisor of any torn or damaged screens.
  • Maintain clean work area. Sweep and operate vacuum system as needed. Vacuum in and around machines. Sharpen knives as needed.
  • Provide relief for others during breaks.
  • Train new or less experienced workers as directed by supervisor.
  • Load fiber bales onto pallets with same product. Ensure bales are properly labeled. Tape down top slip-sheets.
  • Enter required info into computer including fiber bin number, the bailing room, spooler initials, baler initials, and fiber check number.
  • Transport full pallets to the shrink wrapper. Load pallets and label accordingly.
  • Receive fiber bins and load contents into baler. Monitor bailing process and ensure proper bags, labels, etc are being used per product code. Feed bales through the metal detector and troubleshoot discrepancies as needed. Operate sealer to secure bags.
  • Remove fiber sample as require per product. Place in bag and set aside for fiber-check inspection.
  • Record bale number, product code, and weight of each bale.
