Summary:

Our Enterprise Data Governance team is growing, and we’re looking for an outstanding Data Governance Quality Assurance and Control Lead to join our team. The Data Governance Quality Assurance and Control Lead will be responsible for leading the creation, tracking, and enforcement of data governance processes. The development of data policy, standards, and controls and their continued enforcement will be critical to the success of Huntington’s journey to being a data driven organization.

The Data Governance Quality Assurance and Control Lead will help develop current team members while serving as a technical leader with expertise in the implementation and oversight of our Data Governance policies and procedures.

The Data Governance Quality Assurance and Control team provides oversight and measurement of the implementation and execution of Data Governance and Management policies and procedures. Data Governance Quality Assurance and Control Lead support enterprise data government capabilities and partner across the bank assisting in the team’s work on data sharing agreements (drafting, reviewing and processing, monitoring, and close-out), developing documentation of policies and processes related to data sharing and data governance, working with other teams in data governance and other divisions in Huntington on data sharing, governance, policy and privacy issues, convening, and leading and documenting meetings with stakeholders across the agency involved in the process.​

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with internal partners in Audit, Compliance, Risk, and Legal to identify and define data policies, standards, and controls to enable broader use of data across Huntington
  • Be challenged to meet deadlines, directly interact with key members of management, and provide dynamic feedback to actively improve evolving processes
  • Work as a lead Data Governance team member in the planning and execution of substantive process and control testing to measure the successful implementation of policies and procedures
  • Evaluate testing results to determine if issues exist and improvement recommendations are necessary
  • Expertly communicate results and recommendations with stakeholders
  • Develop key relationships for ongoing review and collaboration
  • Work as a lead Data Governance team member under minimal supervision with latitude for independent judgement and problem solving
  • Contribute to the development and design metrics required for monitoring and tracking adherence to Data Governance policies, standards, and controls
  • Takes a lead role in capturing requirements and document processes, including the ability to act as a trusted advisor to our stakeholders​
  • Manage and document requirements from various stakeholders and take a lead role working closely with the project management team to track progress and provide status updates
  • ​Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a process and repository for the documentation of governance best practices
  • Lead implementation of an ongoing communication plan to educate key stakeholders on substantive testing and control testing
  • Support federated teams on the work necessary to meet policy requirements
  • Take lead role in tracking and monitoring the implementation of data controls across the organization
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members while serving as a role model
  • Anticipate and analyze trends in technology while assessing the emerging technology’s impact with regards to the Data Governance framework

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 7+ years of experience that may be a combination of internal/external audit, business segment, or risk experience focused on risk and control assessment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience implementing data governance frameworks (e.g., data policies, standards, and controls), experience developing and/or implementing data governance policy and standards, or experience working with IT and/or business segments on the analysis of complex business processes and data governance needs
  • Experience leading project teams, with or without formal direct reporting relationships
  • Strong project management skills illustrating organized, detail-oriented, and able to work well under deadlines
  • Risk management, regulatory, compliance, and/or audit experience
  • Experience in data analytics, reporting, or data-related programming skills
  • History of developing and monitoring the delivery of efficient and effective processes to solve diverse and complex data problems
  • Experience in strategy, process improvement, management consulting is a plus
  • Experience tracking data policies, standards, and controls throughout the lifecycle (including monitoring, enforcement, and close-out)
  • Professional certification (CIA, CAMS, CRCM, etc.) or progress toward/eligibility for certification
  • Comprehensive knowledge of data governance or data management
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills with the ability to influence others by information/knowledge sharing
  • Very strong knowledge of governance policy, standards, and controls processes
  • Well-versed with latest data policy decisions, guidelines, and business trends
  • Strong partnership and collaboration skills, including the ability to work in a cross-functional manner with business and technology stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and business writing skills, including ability to draft business testing controls
  • Ability to rapidly comprehend the changes to key business processes and the impact on the overall Data Governance framework
  • Strong understanding of the objectives of business segments and how our Data Policy & Standards support those objectives
  • Excellent ability to analyze complex situations and to derive workable actions
  • Flexibility to adjust to multiple demands, shifting priorities, ambiguity, and rapid change
  • Outstanding level of organization and attention to detail
  • Self-starter attitude with the ability to work independently and to mentor junior team members
  • Demonstrated perseverance
  • Strong PC and internet skills with proficiency in Microsoft Products (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio)
  • Very strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential
  • Ability to interact effectively with all levels of individuals across the organization
  • Ability to effectively drive requirements and gain consensus
  • Ability to train less experienced colleagues regarding day-to-day activities
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional efforts
